One of Scotland's most famous golf courses and an Open championship venue on
8 occasions to date, the Old course at Royal Troon offers a classic links
layout of 9 holes out and 9 holes back. The course is set on the Ayrshire
coast in the west of Scotland and is steeped in history.
Royal Troon is a true test of your golfing skills. Not only do you have the wind to
contend with, but deep rough interspersed with gorse and broom makes accurate
shot making essential.
The course signature hole on the Troon Championship course is the 8th, or
Postage Stamp, which is usually played into the teeth of the wind. The inward
nine are widely accepted as some of the most demanding golf holes on the
Championship rota.
The current course record of 64 was set by Greg Norman in 1989 and equalled by
Tiger Woods in the 3rd round of the 1997 British Open Championship.
