The golf course at the Golf House Club at Elie is a typical
seaside links, but it does hold a few surprises, so be warned!
The course is set on the wide, open West Bay of the East Neuk town
of Elie and has excellent views over the Firth of Forth.
The course's signature hole is the 380 yard, par 4, 13th, which was
described by the legendary course architect James Braid as
"the finest hole in all the country".
The golf course may only have two par 3s and no par 5s but is loaded with
memorable features, such as the 1939 periscope mounted on the Starter's hut
to view play over the hill on the first fairway. It is believed golf has been
played on the Earlsferry Links as far back as the 15th century.
The wind can play a major part in how challenging the course will play. And
if you do not play too well on the holes by the shore between 10 and 13, you
can always look out for seals on the rocks.
