The Dundonald golf course is a relatively new addition to the courses on the west
coast of Scotland. It complements the many traditional links
courses around the town of Troon.
Opened in 2003 and originally known as Southern Gailes, the Dundonald course
is part of the Loch Lomond
Golf Club. Unlike its sister course north of Glasgow, Dundonald is not just for
the enjoyment of members and welcomes visiting golfers.
Dundonald was designed by Kyle Phillips who also created the excellent Kingsbarns
Links. The golf course follows traditional links styling and makes good use of the
natural terrain. The course is well established and offers an enjoyable challenge to
complement the perhaps better known links courses around it.
